15 Day Challenge: Day 15

Today is the last day of the 15 Day Challenge! I'm a little disappointed it's ending... I really enjoyed finding new blogs and reading all of your sweet comments!

{15} What's the best compliment you've ever received?

This might be a little cheesy but I have received so many great compliments from my boyfriend Chris. Even after being together forever I still smile when he tells me I'm beautiful or compliments me in any other way. It just means a lot, you know? It's definitely the little things and if I can have that forever, I will be totally happy :)

So, there isn't just one specific compliment, but those definitely mean the most.

15 Day Challenge: Day 14

Wow it's the second to last day of the challenge! :(
Linking up with Sar at life of love!

{14} If you were only allowed to watch one movie for the rest of your life, what would it be and why?

Clueless!

I don't even think this one needs explanation. I just love it and have since I first saw it. It's so 90's which makes me laugh when I watch it now. My favorite scene is the driving test when Cher crashes into every other car on the road.. hilarious! I was also envious of Cher's closet and "dressing system" on the computer (who wasn't?!) Plus, who doesn't love Paul Rudd? And, of course, Brittany Murphy- she was great in this movie!

 Best movie ever :)

What's your favorite movie?

15 Day Challenge: Day 13

{13} List your favorites: song, quote, food, vacation spot, photo

Edit:It's obvious that my brain is on robot mode. While writing this I followed the prompt exactly as written when it was actually an open ended prompt as I saw from other participants. Oh well, I liked the prompt as-is and don't really feel like adding anything :)

Song ~ "Lucky" by Jason Mraz/Colbie Cailat. This is "our song" and will be our first dance someday! (Sorry to spoil the surprise, everyone!) I'd have to say one of the best moments was hearing this song live last summer at the Jason Mraz concert. Pretty sure I cried.

Quote ~ "Be the change you wish to see in the world" -Gandhi. I'm sure this is every other social worker's favorite quote but I just love this reminder!

Be the change

Food ~ I can't pick just one. Pizza, Mexican food, and any type of sweet. That covers a lot but it's just the truth! These are my favorite cupcakes I've ever made and one of my first blog posts!

Vacation spot ~ Puerto Rico! We took our first "real" vacation together last May and this is where we went. I'd been there before, on a Middle school trip (yes, back when schools actually took trips!). I fell in love with this island and so did Chris. We had such a great time and will definitely be visiting again! Of course, here are a few pictures...

It's so gorgeous there!

Favorite photo ~ Homecoming 2003 (Chris' senior year and my junior year)

Hopefully Chris won't kill me for posting this since I don't post pictures of him on the blog. This is definitely my favorite picture of all time and our first picture together!

Those are my favorite things!

15 Day Challenge: Day 12

{11} What are you most looking forward to in the next six months?

Many things! Since we moved 6 months ago and Chris has been out of law school and working, I feel like our lives have just started on a "normal" track! And yes, after 3 years of law school and me working full time and earning my Masters, we NEED "normal"!

We will most likely be moving in six months... we don't know where but it won't be far. I love where we live now- nice suburbs but still super close to the city. I'm also not opposed to moving back to the city where we lived for 3 years! I never thought I'd say that.

I do love Baltimore! my office is in one of those buildings around there!

I'm also looking forward to starting my new position in August and learning more and more as I go. I'm excited to begin a position where I am a "go-to" person for my co-workers so they can come to me with any issues/problems. Also work-related, I'm looking forward to earning my Clinical license (hopefully in the next 6 months but maybe a little longer).. that means I will not need the level of supervision I have now and I can eventually open that private practice (in a long time, don't worry, bosses! :) ) That has always been a dream of mine and I will be that much closer to achieving it!

I'm also looking forward to any other major life events that happen in that period of time because I have a feeling there might be at least one...... :P But, who knows!

Oh, and I'm also looking forward to getting my car back at the end of the month. For those who don't know I was in an accident last week and just found out today that it's not totaled and I will be getting it back in a couple weeks!!! Since the accident was the other guy's fault, I don't have to pay a penny it's just an annoyance. I am strangely attached to my car- it was the first big purchase I made after getting a job, and I spend so much time in it. Obviously the important thing is that Chris and I were okay after the accident, but now that that's squared away, I'm just happy to be getting my Mazda back!

15 Day Challenge: Day 11

It's Day 11 of the challenge!

{11} What's one thing that you would never change about yourself?

Oh geez. There are many things I wouldn't change and also many that I would. I would probably say my compassion and empathy towards others. I got into my profession because I care about others and making a difference. I believe this was instilled since I was young by my parents and I thank them for that. I was always taught to be polite, understanding, and how to show empathy way before I decided to be a therapist. I truly care about people (I wrote about this a couple days ago too) which sometimes hurts me, but it's so worth it.

This picture is my favorite of me and my dad! I thought it somewhat related to the topic and is too sweet not to include :)

15 Day Challenge: Day 10

{10} What's your most embarrassing moment?

I'm pretty sure my whole life is one huge embarrassing moment!

I'm so clumsy and am always falling/running into things/knocking things over. I'm like a child that shouldn't be let loose. Just the other day I completely knocked over my wine glass and wine went flying through and air and onto the floor. At my boyfriend's family's house. I've also spilled my drink numerous times at his family dinners. After 5 years it's not really a surprise when it happens. Luckily the glass didn't break this time which was surprising.

Thankfully I'm able to laugh at myself (most of the time).

I remember one time in high school I was wearing these cute new platforms and a mini skirt. I was strutting up the stairs like I was the cutest thing ever when I fell up the stairs in front of tons of people. Humiliating! I wasn't so great about laughing at myself back then... I've gotten a lot better!

What is your most embarrassing moment?
I can't wait to read everyone else's!

15 Day Challenge: Day 9

It's Day 9 of the Challenge!
Linked up with Sar! :)

{9} Tell us the best day of your life to date.

I felt similar to you, Sar! This is pretty hard because I haven't had any major life events like having a baby or getting married. I've had so many great days and good things happen.

I can't pick just one so I'll tell you about a few of the best days!

Moving in with Chris about 4 years ago. We had been dating a year and a half, I just started my job a couple months before. He was about to start law school. It was such a nerve-racking time for him but it was so exciting to move in together and begin our life as an "adult" couple.

The day I passed my Masters level licensing exam. This was a couple years ago and was such a rewarding feeling and a huge relief. I was finally able to be a therapist!

Last week when I found out about my new position at work (you can read more about that here) I am so happy/excited/relieved to get the job so that was a really really good day!

I really liked today's prompt because I've had a pretty crappy past few days (see the same post I referenced earlier..) I'm usually a very happy blogger and hate writing about serious stuff but that's life and of course I have bad days. Today's prompt forced me to think about some of the good stuff in my life which definitely helped cheer me up :)

15 Day Challenge: Days 7&8

I missed a day.. oops! Check my Weekend Update post tomorrow and you'll see why. Jumping back on the challenge now :)

{7} Recommend a book for us to read. Why is it important/special to you?

There are a lot of books that hold special meaning to me... but unfortunately I haven't been reading much in the past few years. I really loved The Help, along with everyone else. It was so well-written and just a great story. I loved the movie too but it was definitely not as good as the book!

{8} Describe the good, the bad, and the ugly about yourself

The good: I have a huge heart. I have so much love for my boyfriend, family, and friends. I care so much about the children I work with. I care about people I met two seconds ago- I don't know if that's normal or generally a good thing :)

The bad: The same as above. This one really gets me. People disappoint me WAY too easily. I have such high expectations of people and when someone disappoints me I get hit hard. This doesn't apply so much in my job now that I have a few years under my belt. Now I'm pretty good at separating myself from my work but this definitely got me in the beginning.

The ugly: I can be pretty moody sometimes (what girl isn't?). Yep, admitted. I usually bounce back pretty quickly and am overall a pretty level person. Oh also my hair is extremely frizzy without styling/product. I'll never show you pictures of ages 10-13 before I figured out how to style my hair.

So there, now I'm caught up!

15 Day Challenge: Day 6

We're off to the beach today! Yay!!! It's just a day trip since we have various other things to do over the weekend... it'll be fun! Check my instagram on the sidebar, I'm sure I'll be posting some beachy pics :)

It's day 6 of the Challenge...

What's something you've always wanted to do but haven't? Why not?

Geez there are a lot of things I could write about. I'm still so young and haven't had a chance to do most of the things I want to do! Can I pick more than one? Ok...

TRAVEL- I haven't had a chance to do much travelling yet! I started working immediately after college and Chris was in law school, so now that he is a lawyer with vacation time, we are hoping to be able to travel before too long!

Have children- well, the above reasons explain why that hasn't happened yet :) That's fine with me! We are not ready for that yet but I definitely want children- I always have! I love children which is also why I work with them.

Stay in Cinderella's castle at Disney World- Along with every other girl out there this was always a dream of mine! I don't even think this is possible unless you win it (I researched it a while ago). Well, let me tell you, it WILL happen sometime in my life!

Ok that's enough. There was only supposed to be one! I'm working on my bucket list which I'll post eventually so the rest will go on there.

Is there anything you've always wanted to do but haven't?

15 Day Challenge: Day 5

I hope everyone had a great 4th of July!
I'm squeezing in a blog post a little late... we've been so busy! I'll write my whole week/weekend update with pictures on Sunday when I get a chance to breathe!

5: If you could have dinner with any five people, who would they be?

My grandpa- he died when I was a baby. He was my mom's dad and it would have been so cool to be able to talk to him and get to know him. I've heard so many stories from my mom about him.

My other grandparents- all 3 are still living. I'm counting them as one but oh well. All live on the West coast so I don't get to see them very often, but miss them all very much!

My BFF Liz- she lives in the Keys and I haven't seen her for about a year :( I miss her!!!! (yes I still say BFF)

My German friend Melanie- she came as a German exchange student in high school and was so much fun and such a great person. We still talk over email/Facebook (Hi Meli, if you are reading this!).. Needless to say it's not easy to see someone who lives halfway across the world!

Patrick Dempsey- Ok I had to. Seriously, does this need any explanation? I love him. Chris would have to be with me for this dinner because he likes him for his racing career. I like him because he's McDreamy.

So, who would you have dinner with if you could pick anyone?

15 Day Challenge: Day 4

It's Day 4 of the Challenge!

What's your favorite childhood memory?

This is hard. I have so many great childhood memories! 3 of them include meeting my brothers for the first time. I wasn't so excited about this every time, but I'm so glad I have those memories.

Other than that, one of the best memories is going to Disney World for the first time in 5th grade. There was so much anticipation behind this and I remember being so excited. We'd also just gotten our first dog, named Magic of course, and it was like the best time in my life ever! It's funny how these memories are all linked together. I won't dare post a picture of me on that trip (my hair was a mess from 5th-8th grades) but here's a picture of Magic. He passed away a couple years ago.

He was so cute!

So I guess I couldn't just pick one memory huh?!
What are your favorite childhood memories?

15 Day Challenge: Day 3

It's Day 3 of the challenge!

This is fun.
So... #3, "Tell about an article of clothing that you're deeply attached to"

This is actually hard. Although I love clothes, I don't really have an item that I'm attached to. I tend to wear clothes and get sick of them, and then donate and buy new ones. My wallet's not exactly a fan of that.

I do have this sleep shirt that I LOVED as a child. I wore it to bed EVERY night. I kept it, and now it fits like a regular shirt (well maybe it's a little small...) It's definitely one of those things I'll keep around forever but I definitely don't wear it around (except for yesterday!)

Yeah 90's!

It shouldn't be a surprise that all my clothes were pink and purple. Here are some more examples:

{Thanks for the never ending bangs, Mom!}
So I would say that I was more attached to clothing as a child and not so much anymore. I do have a couple favorite things but would not be devastated if any of it got lost/ruined. Except that sleep shirt ;)

Do you have any clothing items you're attached to?

15 Day Challenge: Day 2

It's Day 2 of the Challenge!
Link up with Sar @ life of love

Write a [few] six-word memoir [s]....

Helping others is in my blood
Life's unexpected twists make me stronger
No matter what family is everything
You can make your own happiness
Find something great in each day

Wow that got deep.. I thought I'd have a hard time with this one! I really saw the therapist in me after writing these. I can't escape it! :)

15 Day Challenge: Day 1

The weekend's almost over! How'd that happen? Make sure to tune in for tomorrow's weekend update... :)

I really like the idea of this link up Sar is hosting- a 15 day challenge with prompts for each day! {Thanks Dani for making it look like so much fun!} I might still try and keep up with the regular posts. We'll see how it goes!

Here's the idea.

Here we go... 15 fun facts about myself! {can I even come up with that many?}

1. I have naturally strawberry blonde hair. There are now some highlights I'm growing out but overall the color's natural!
2. Margaritas are my favorite drink
3. On a similar note, I love mexican food!
4. I was born in Texas and lived there the first 3 years of my life
5. I went to Salisbury University for undergrad ~ 30 min from Ocean City, MD
6. I wanted to be a teacher for most of my life, and decided in high school that I wanted to be a therapist.
7. I love watching crappy reality tv shows (real housewives of everything. so what?!)
8. I have 3 younger brothers. The youngest, Jake, is 12 years younger than me. I spent my teenage years learning how to care for babies/toddlers and it was PERFECT birth control! Moms on the playground used to give me the dirtiest looks when I would bring him by myself. I hated that.
9. My lifelong career goal is to open a private practice to serve children/families/couples, along with supervising other social workers/interns
10. I am a Christmas Eve baby- Dec 24 is my birthday!
11. I'm not patient and I hate keeping secrets! Especially with a certain thing going on in my life right now.
12. I'm pretty shy at first but not so much if you get to know me. Depending on what mood I'm in, I'll pretty much talk to anyone {that's changed a lot since I've grown older}
13. I'm a planner, and I'm pretty "Type A" but only in  certain areas of my life {work, vacations, etc}
14. I still get a sinking feeling in my stomach when I see the school supply displays go up at Target {that happened the other day} I've been out of school for years at this point!
15. I love pizza- I could eat it every day

Join in the challenge! {I hope we're still friends after that}
