This weekend... it finally happened

An earth shattering, once-in-a-lifetime event happened this weekend. You really won't believe it. I cut my hair. Ok, it's really not that big of a deal, but it's the only exciting thing that happened this weekend. Besides getting gum stuck in the dryer and ruining some of Chris' work clothes but I don't think you all want to hear about that. I really wish I could erase that part of the weekend.

I got about 5 inches off and but it was a much needed change. I hate getting my hair cut as it makes me so nervous as if the wrong haircut would ruin my life. I obviously need more important things to worry about.

Before and after!
I actually love it! I was having some second thoughts, as I always do after cutting my hair, but I really like it. My ends were terrible and I desperately needed some bangs to frame my face. What do you think? I was bored and also made a vlog to show what it looked like, but holy heck I can't stand the sound of my voice recorded. I think I'll keep that one in the "vault" ;) I need to have a couple glasses of wine before a real vlog ever happens. I don't know how you all do it.

The rest of the weekend was really just spent relaxing. I'm dying for the weather to get warm, but right now the forecast is calling for snow! Come on, it's almost April! In Maryland! Nobody has time for that snow bizznass. My sandals are feeling so lonely, along with my dresses and capris.

I also painted my nails and put up this cute little Spring decor. We'll pretend it actually feels like Spring.
Target "dollar" section! $3
Ugh the cuticles. This weather is killing me!
Now THAT is an exciting weekend! Please tell me yours was more eventful :) In all seriousness, we're really trying to keep things low-key lately because we'll be moving again in a month. That means trying to save money as much as possible and get things done around the house to make moving a little more easier. We still have no idea where we'll be moving but have some up with a semi-plan that I'll eventually share once we decide for sure. I hate when things are "up in the air" but that's the way life goes. I know things will be stable and "normal" soon so I'm trying not to sweat it. Chris and I have been going through a lot of big changes within the past six months... moving, my job change and now moving again and more job changes...other things... when will it stop? So I'm wondering...

How do you do with life being unstable? Anyone else going through this?

Taming that Frizz

My hair has been a struggle since age 12... around that age it went from sort of wavy/manageable to very wavy and frizzy. I've since been able to wrangle it in, and even decided to grow it long in the past few years. Although it's a little more "under control"now, if I don't straighten/curl it's just a frizzy mess. My hair is VERY thick and takes a lot of sectioning, time, and patience to even get it dry in the morning.

I've owned about 10 flat irons in my life. I've been through cheap Conair irons (which do nothing on my hair) and currently use a more expensive flat iron that works wonders. When Misikko asked me to review the Hana Professional Flat Iron, I had to say "yes". They claim it's the best flat iron, with a 360 degree swivel cord, hot temperature, ceramic and tourmaline plates, and curved edges. I've heard great things about Hana products, and Misikko did not disappoint with their packaging of this product.

Heat proof mat, pouch (flat iron is below the pouch in it's own snap case) and other goodies.

Here's after blow-drying completely, using a flat brush.

Keeping in mind that my ends are terrible and I'm in desperate need of a trim, this straightener did pretty well. It gets super hot (450F) and glides smoothly throughout the hair. Due to the thickness and length of my hair, I typically prefer a wider iron (this one is 1 inch and my current iron is 1.5 inch). I think this flat iron would be perfect for someone with shorter or thinner hair than mine, just due to the width of the iron. I was so impressed with the packaging and "extras" that came with this flat iron and would definitely recommend ordering from Misikko- I know I will be!

I received this flat iron to review but all opinions are 100% my own!

Friday!

Happy Friday!
Thank goodness for the upcoming weekend (don't I say the same thing every week?)
Here are my highlights from the week!

I'm normally not a huge fan of fall, but I loooove fall clothes.
Layering is a must when it's still a little warm outside during the day, cooler in the mornings/evenings, and FREEZING in the office. It's very confusing!

{1} I love this peplum top {I have to admit, I wasn't sure about the stripes at first. Now, it's love}

{2} New TV. Especially Private Practice and Grey's Anatomy.

Thanks, McDreamy, for not dying. I know I can count on you. Even though you look sad, and might not be able to do surgery for a while. It's going to be okay, I know it.
I went through so many tissues. I can't WAIT until next week. Can.Not.Wait.

{3} Ever have a day you don't feel like doing your hair and just want to put it up in a bun while it's wet? Well, I did the other day (and do a lot). I had some extra time and decided to just take a few minutes to dry/curl a little and ended up with one of the best hair days in a while! When does that ever happen??

Excuse my cheesin.

{4} Trying harder for positivity...
and to believe that things will get better!
the best is yet to come

Lately, things haven't gone exactly as planned in our lives.
It's a struggle, but I'm trying so hard to just try and take control of the things I can and let go the things I can't change.

Agreed.

{5} Weekend Time! We're going to the Haunted Pub Crawl in Annapolis...I got Chris tickets for his birthday a couple months ago and we're finally going. I'm so excited! Pictures to come, for sure.

I hope everyone has a great weekend!
